In an effort to provide a needed lift to nursing staff working long hours in Pennsylvania and New Jersey hospitals during the pandemic health emergency and supply food to help feed the hungry, WW Philadelphia (Weight Watchers reimagined) recently donated $10,000 in healthy snacks and breakfast foods. The announcement was made by John Birnhak, president of WW Philadelphia.

WW Philadelphia donated the food because during the pandemic health emergency, they were not able to offer the food to their members since they shifted all of their workshops to a totally virtual format to protect members from the coronavirus.

“Rather than let foods in our workshop locations grow stale, our managers and staff jumped into action, packed up the food and distributed it to several worthwhile causes throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southwestern New Jersey,” said Birnhak. “It is most gratifying to know the donations were greatly appreciated and enjoyed where they were most needed. One of my nurse friends told me that they loved receiving some healthier foods rather than the usual pizza donations.”

Receiving food donations were St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne; Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia; Methodist Hospital/Jefferson Health, Philadelphia; Lankenau Medical Center Birnhak Transitional Care Center, Wynnewood; Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr; Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington; Holy Redeemer Hospital, Meadowbrook; Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown; Riddle Hospital, Media; Our Lady of Lourdes, Willingboro and Camden, New Jersey; Lehigh Valley Schuylkill Health East, Pottsville; Grand View Hospital, Sellersville; Reading Hospital, Reading; Phoebe-Berks Skilled Nursing Center, Wernersville; St. Joseph Manor, Covid Nursing Station, Meadowbrook; Chester City Team Food Bank, Chester; Phoenixville Food Pantry, Phoenixville; and Calvary Church, Lancaster.

In addition, Birnhak announced that as of this week, WW Philadelphia will be reopening several of its workshop locations for actual weigh-ins and product sales. However, there will be a strict set of new rules and guidance in place:

– Members must wear a mask and their shoes (or wear flip flops).
– Two members will be allowed in the studio at one time. No children or guests will be permitted. Studios will be signed to keep everyone safely distanced in their appropriate areas.
– WW Philadelphia will provide sanitizer for everyone to use.
– Sample products will be displayed on a product wall and a guide will have inventory located behind a desk with the products selected, which will be bagged for members.
– All WW Philadelphia staff members will be wearing masks and staff members will be wiping down all work areas, door areas and sanitizing the studios as often as possible to make sure the experience is safe for everyone involved.
