Bucks seniors help answer child’s dream to visit Disney

Matthew, 5, is diagnosed with profound low functioning autism

High school students from the graduating class at Central Bucks South chose Sunshine Foundation to donate $5,000 toward a child’s dream, and presented a check to Sunshine Foundation president Kate Sample, on Friday, June 12 in front of their school.

The funds donated by the students will help answer the dream of Matthew, 5, diagnosed with profound low functioning autism. Matthew’s dream is to visit the Central Florida theme parks.

Last year, the students held a color run to help answer the dream of Aniyah, 14, diagnosed with cerebral palsy and blindness. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aniyah’s dream to go to Disney World and the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village in Central Florida, scheduled during April, had to be postponed.

“We believe this gift is a perfect representation of the character and compassion that exists at Central Bucks South,” class president Can Tunceli told the class of 2020. “And while this may be the legacy we leave as a class, I wish you all the best of luck on each of your own independent journeys. Do what makes you happy, and most importantly, help those that aren’t and help add a little more sunshine into their rainy days.”

The values of Central Bucks South High School are to demonstrate excellence, model responsible citizenship, encourage a positive school climate and demonstrate pride.

The Sunshine Foundation answers dreams of chronically ill, physically challenged and abused children from income-limited families. The Sunshine Foundation Dream Village is a fairytale village on 22 acres near Disney World with themed cottages and amenities designed for children at any ability level. Since 1976, the Sunshine Foundation has answered more than 41,000 dreams with the help of local groups, businesses and organizations.
