The following is a statement from Bristol Borough council president Ralph DiGuiseppe:
“As we enter into June and get closer to the official start of summer, it’s crazy to think about what we’ve been dealing with over the last two-plus months of our lives. Shelter in place orders, social distancing, face masks and a complete shutdown of what we referred to as “normal.” Thankful, over the last week or so, we’ve seen some loosening of the restrictions and we’re closer to living in a “green” zone.
“So far, construction activities have resumed. Real estate appointments are allowed again on a restrictive basis. Restaurants are allowed to open with outdoor dining on June 5. All great signs that we are slowly moving to our new normal.
“Therefore, I want to let you know that the Borough will be opening all playgrounds and public fields starting June 5. We will also open Borough Hall on Friday for anyone who needs to come in for permits, and/or any other Borough-related activities. Also, please be advised that even though the building will remain closed over the next couple days, we still have people in the building working every day to keep the borough moving forward, answer your questions and provide the necessary services with permits, etc.
“We are asking that everyone visiting Borough Hall, along with those using the playgrounds and fields, to continue practicing proper social distancing and follow the CDC guidelines. Also, the fields will not be used for any Borough-related organized sports activities as those events are still prohibited by the governor.
“Finally, I just want to thank each and every one of you for being socially responsible during this unprecedented time. It’s because of everyone’s awareness and proper behavior that we continue to move the meter from red to yellow and eventually green. I said when this first started two-plus months ago that we will get through this together, and now I firmly believe that we’re closer to that reality because we have all done our part in making it happen.”
