State Sen. Steve Santarsiero (D-10th dist.) and Reps. Perry Warren (D-31st dist.) and John Galloway (D-140th dist.) held a virtual news conference to discuss the need for more funding to support Morrisville School District.

The legislators called on Gov. Tom Wolf and the Department of Education to review demographic data that has been used to calculate the state funding Morrisville School District receives. In short, they say the annual household income in Morrisville is $53,000. The data being used to calculate funding includes wealthier people who live in the 19067 ZIP code who are not part of the school district.

“The funding formula deals with 500 different school districts in an incredibly diverse state,” Galloway said. “There are going to be anomalies, and one of those was Morrisville.”
