Northampton Parks & Rec offers free virtual classes and family activities

Enjoy dance fitness classes and activities such as crafts and virtual tours

Northampton Township Parks and Recreation, in an effort to provide quality programming to residents during COVID-19 mitigation efforts, is offering free programs virtually. With the help of several instructors, many of whom are donating their services, the Parks and Recreation team recently launched a slew of exercise programs for adults and children.

Barre, yoga, Zumba and other dance fitness classes can be accessed via Zoom or Facebook Live, with more classes to come. A weekly schedule will be posted at northamptonrec.com. Some classes that were already in progress when the virus hit, such as SAT Prep, Driver’s Ed and Super Soccer Stars, are able to continue via a virtual platform.

In addition, Parks and Recreation has a weekly schedule of activities for families that will be updated to the P&R website and Facebook each week with new content. The schedule includes Virtual Tour (zoos, museums, etc.) on Mondays; Craft of the Day on Tuesdays; Free Coloring Pages (adult and kids) on Wednesdays; Scavenger Hunt (inside or outside depending on the weather) on Thursdays; and Family Photo Theme Day on Fridays.

The mission of the Parks and Recreation Department, in a time when social distancing is the new norm, is to keep the community engaged and help residents maintain their health and connect to each other.
