K.C. Tomlinson expected to be sworn into office April 6

The Republican represents the 18th Legislative District

Republican K.C. Tomlinson is expected to be sworn into office, representing the 18th Legislative District, on Monday, April 6.

On March 17, Tomlinson defeated Democrat Harold Hayes in a special election with 55.3 percent of the vote.

Tomlinson is a funeral director and daughter of state Sen. Tommy Tomlinson.

Tomlinson and Hayes, a plumber, are unopposed in the primary and will have a rematch in the November general election.

Republicans won two other state House special elections on March 17, one in Westmoreland County (Eric Davanzo) and another in Mercer and Butler counties (Tim Bonner).

“The successes of the March 17 special elections show the strength of our party in the commonwealth, and have fortified the Republican majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives,” said Lawrence Tabas, chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania. “These victories also serve to further the Republican momentum in Pennsylvania ahead of the Nov. 3 general election. From President Trump to our statewide row offices, our congressional races and General Assembly, Pennsylvania will be a red state in 2020 on the strength of our candidates.”

“I look forward to working with K.C., Tim and Eric in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives,” said House Republican Campaign Committee Chairman Greg Rothman, of Cumberland County. “All three of these candidates won on the strength of their community ties and message. As the 2020 election begins to come into form, we in the House Republican Caucus are confident we will not only hold, but expand our majority.”
