Bensalem Rotary distributes grab-and-go food bags

The organization has distributed 1,500 bags to area kids this week, and is seeking volunteers to continue efforts until Friday

The Bensalem Rotary has distributed nearly 1,500 grab-and-go bags of food to area children this week, to aid those suffering financial hardship due to the coronavirus.

The initiative will continue through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at five locations: Colonial Points, 2555 Old Trevose Road (pick up bags in the main office); Bucks Meadow, 3131 Knights Road; Cedar Court Group, 831 Cedar Ave.; Country Commons, 3338 Richlieu Road; and Top of the Ridge, 1446 Gibson Road.

Volunteers are needed at Trifecta Sporting Club, 4668 E. Bristol Road, Feasterville-Trevose, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to help prepare and deliver the bags.

Donations are welcome. Needed items include juice boxes, water, snacks of any kind, fresh or packaged fruit, sliced bread for sandwiches and hot dog rolls. Monetary donations can be made at PayPal.Me/bensalemrotary.

Reach out to organizer Christina Oyola through Facebook Messenger if you know someone who needs a bag delivered to their home. Provide their address, name and phone number.

“We are making a list of people that will still need help in some way after we close up shop, so we can try to help them in any way we can,” Oyola said. “If we can get more donations and helpers, we may try to do a couple days next week.”

On Tuesday, leftover donations were distributed to the homeless.
