HealthLink to offer free dental sealants for kids at annual event

This once-a-year service is available for children 14 and under on April 4

For one day only, HealthLink Dental Clinic, 1775 Street Road, Southampton, will open its doors to local children.

On Saturday, April 4, families are invited to the clinic for free dental sealants and exams for children 14 and under. Limited space is available, so appointments are required.

HealthLink Dental Clinic staff and volunteers will be joined by students from Manor College’s Dental Hygiene program to offer this once-a-year service, open to local families in Bucks County and Montgomery County. Sealant Saturday, as it is known across the state, is supported by the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists Association.

To make a free appointment for a child, parents and caregivers can visit healthlinkdental.org/kids to view available time slots, or call 215-364-4247.

During the other 364 days of the year, HealthLink Dental Clinic provides free dental care exclusively to adults. The clinic opened in 2001 and has provided no-cost oral health care to nearly 24,000 underserved individuals. The dental services regularly provided to those 18 and over include exams, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, root canals and crowns.

“HealthLink Dental Clinic enjoys the opportunity to open our doors to local families for our annual Sealant Saturday program,” said Raquel Braemer, executive director of the clinic. “The event not only grants free access to exams and sealants for children under 14 years old; it also affords our staff and volunteers an opportunity to interact with the whole family to provide oral health education and referrals to other community resources.”

Parents and caregivers will be encouraged to determine their own eligibility for free dental services at the clinic while visiting with their children. Staff and volunteers will be on-site to give tours, provide information, and encourage good oral health habits.

HealthLink Dental Clinic is funded entirely by charitable contributions from the community. Donations go directly to the provision of much needed oral health care for neighbors in need living in Bucks County and Montgomery County.
