NOVA announces spring session of crisis volunteer training

Register now for course starting in mid-April

Network of Victim Assistance has announced that registration is open for its upcoming six-week, 45-hour specialized volunteer crisis counselor training that starts in mid-April. The comprehensive training is free of charge and will be presented by NOVA professionals. The training provides volunteers with the skills and information to appropriately respond to calls on NOVA’s 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, as well as provide support to crime victims during emergency room visits or police interviews.

NOVA’s 24-Hour Crisis Hotline supports victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County and delivers crime prevention education programs to young people and the elderly. Crisis Hotline volunteers can take calls during evening and weekend hours. Flexible shifts of two, four or six hours are available each week for volunteers.

The next six-week training session will be offered during the evening at NOVA’s Jamison office, located at 2370 York Road, Suite B1. Dates and times to be announced. Advance registration is required for all participants in crisis volunteer training.

To register or obtain additional information about the training, contact Julie Dugery, coordinator of volunteers and community outreach, at 215-343-6543 or JulieD@NOVABucks.org. Visit NOVABucks.org for more information on the organization.
