Bucks’ Kids on Campus hosts open house Feb. 1

Parents and kids can see demonstrations of enrichment programs, creative workshops and sports clinics offered as day camps this summer

Kids on Campus, Bucks County Community College’s popular day camps for children ages 5 to 14 and over, invites the public to an open house Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Newtown campus. Snow date is Feb. 8.

From 10 a.m. to noon in the Gallagher Room in the Rollins Center, instructors and camp leaders will demonstrate many of the activities and opportunities available this summer. Parents and children can meet instructors and camp leaders, sample activities, have questions answered and enjoy free donuts and coffee.

Kids on Campus includes enrichment programs, creative workshops and sports clinics designed to make a child’s summer both a learning experience and a fun adventure. Most programs are one-week long between June 22 and Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Newtown campus. On-site and before-and-after care is available through the YMCA of Bucks County.

For the younger set, new camps this year for ages 5 to 6 years old include Bring it On Cheerleading, Paints, Clay and Mother Goose, and Pop Star Singing. For ages 7 to 9 years old, new camps include Discovering STEAM, High-End Hotel and Tie-Dye Typhoon.

New additions for the 10 to 13 year old crowd include Leather Working, Young Artist: Road to Stardom and Young Chef Academy. For those ages 14 or older, new camps include Firefighter Academy, Podcasting 101 and Introduction to Set Building.

These new additions join traditional favorites such as basketball, musical theater, golf, fishing and outdoor adventures. Back by popular demand are the American Girl doll camp, Lego animation, Woodturning, and Droneology. A complete list of camps is available at bucks.edu/kidsoncampus.

An early bird 10 percent discount is available for registrations paid in full by April 3. Discount does not include material fees. Scholarships are also available; application deadline is March 15. Visit bucks.edu/kidsoncampus for scholarship information.

Bucks County Community College is located at 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, where there is ample free parking. To learn more about Kids on Campus, contact Elena Lydon at [email protected] or 215-968-8411.
