Get your game on at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County’s inaugural Defending Potential 3v3 Basketball Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Newtown Athletic Club, 120 Pheasant Run, Newtown.
Players ages 18 and older are encouraged to create teams to compete for bragging rights, prizes and awards. Each team will consist of a maximum of four players with games being 3 on 3. This is a double elimination tournament, so teams are guaranteed at least two games. There will also be a three-point contest following the tournament for a chance to win the 50/50 jackpot.
Registration is $25 per player, which includes an event T-shirt and it’s tax deductible. To register, text “bbbsbcbball” to 414-44 or visit bbbsbc.org/special-events. All players are required to sign a safety waiver prior to playing in the event. For more details or information, contact Rob Peterman, the organization’s marketing and events manager, at 215-343-8260, Ext. 121 or rpeterman@bbbsbc.org.
“We’re always looking for innovative and imaginative ways to spread the word about our services,” said Rachel Kurtz, BBBSBC’s CEO. “There are currently 220 children waiting to be matched in Bucks County – 65 percent are boys. Any funds raised during the Defending Potential Basketball Tournament will help our staff recruit more mentors, interview more potential Bigs and Littles, and support our goal that all youth achieve their full potential.”
