State Reps. John Galloway and Perry Warren announced PAsmart targeted grants have been approved for Pennsbury and Bristol Borough school districts to expand computer science classes and teacher training in Bucks County. The grants are one component of the PAsmart initiative to improve computer science and STEM – or science, technology, engineering and mathematics – education.
“In the coming years, experts continue to forecast a higher growth rate for jobs in STEM than other occupations,” said Warren, D-Bucks. “In a world where technology is always changing, STEM education fosters a lifelong love of learning – providing students the skills they need to embrace innovation. These grants will provide our community’s teachers with the professional development they need to lead our students.”
Over the next 10 years, 71 percent of new jobs in Pennsylvania will require employees to use computers and new technologies.
“Our students and teachers in Pennsbury and Bristol Borough school districts will see the benefit of this state grant first-hand,” said Galloway, D-Bucks. “These grants will help provide our teachers with the training they need to instruct our students on the skills they will need in computer science and STEM.”
