Trevose Horticultural Society announces next meeting

‘How to Grow and Design with Succulents’ is set for Feb. 25 in Bensalem

“How to Grow and Design with Succulents” is the Trevose Horticultural Society’s featured program on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road, Bensalem.

Succulents have gained popularity with plant enthusiasts as well as the general public in the last decade, and have become staples in home decor and outdoor landscaping. Dr. Jessica K. Kim, owner and head designer of Bucks County Flowers + Things, will introduce succulents and all its varieties. She will discuss how to care for succulents and determine which ones are appropriate for indoor as well as outdoor use in this zone. Kim will demonstrate three different ways to design with succulents grown by Bucks County Flowers + Things.

Prior to dedicating full-time to her floral design and education consulting business, Kim taught masters and doctoral students at Teachers College, Columbia University. In 2010, she started the floral design certificate program at Bucks County Community College where she taught required and elective courses in floral design for three years.

She has taught several workshops for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Clay Studio, and many other educational institutions in the area and was most recently featured on CBSPhilly3 for her succulent workshops. Kim currently enjoys growing her online business, giving talks and teaching workshops specifically working with live succulents. She resides in Yardley with her husband and three children.

All meetings are open to the public. A donation of $5 is requested from non-members. For more information, contact 856-866-9163.
