There’s an old English proverb, “a stitch in time saves nine,” meant to encourage an individual to work through a task. However, sometimes all you need is a “quick stitch” on a piece of clothing. The public is invited to Sewing Stitches & Buttons: a How-to on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St., Bristol, for a few mending lessons. Snow date is Feb. 1.
This hands-on workshop, led by professional patternmaker éros lé roi, will include instruction on five different hand sewn stitches and attaching buttons. Sewing needles, thread, practice fabric swatches and buttons are provided. Participants should bring a thimble, or quilting thimble, and a small pair of scissors to the class. This class is appropriate for individuals age 10 and older.
