At the public school board meeting held on Dec. 19, the Pennsbury board of school directors appointed Amanda D’Amico to be an acting assistant principal at Pennsbury High School for the second semester of the current academic year.
The opening was created when Cherrissa Gibson, an assistant principal at PHS, was selected by the board to fill in as acting principal for PHS West principal Lisa Becker, who is taking a sabbatical leave for the second semester.
As the acting assistant principal, D’Amico’s duties will include staff evaluation, supervision and development; evaluation and administration of instructional and educational programs; budget implementation and management; assisting with the master schedule; office management; organization of student activities; student discipline; and attendance.
Prior to her current position in Pennsbury as a technology administrative intern, D’Amico also held administrative internships at Edgewood Elementary, Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary and Pennsbury High School West. She joined Pennsbury in 2012 and initially taught second grade at Village Park Elementary. She then moved to Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary, where she taught fourth grade for four years before moving into her administrative internships.
D’Amico earned a master of science degree in educational leadership and a master of science degree in elementary education, both from St. Joseph’s University. She also holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University, and has a principal PK-12 certificate, along with certifications in elementary education, mid-level mathematics, special education PK-12, and student assistance program K-12. D’Amico also has Google Level 1 and 2 Educator certifications.
