Mad Science Slime Time: Southampton Free Library, at 947 Street Road, Southampton, will host this event at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. In this program, explore, create and play with the most entertaining and useful molecule known to science, and discover its many shapes and forms. Create slime using the Mad Science recipe, and then enter the Slime Olympics. Students make their own slime that they get to take home and keep. Cat Adoption: Come meet the furry love of your life at the Cat Tales Adoption Center, at the Warrington Pavilion Shopping Center, 1111 Easton Road, Suite 17 (next door to Animal Lifeline Thrift Store), in Warrington. Wilderness Survival Series – Map & Compass: This event will take place at Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Road in Bristol, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The arts of map-reading and compass use are very useful tools when exploring the wilds of Pennsylvania. Use of GPS on cell phones may give many people false confidence. Learn how to combine these tools in the deep woods of SLNC. Hanukkah Menorah Lighting: Congregation Tiferes B’nai Israel of Warrington invites the public to its annual congregational menorah lighting. Attendees can meet at Warrington Pizza, 620 Easton Road, for a “dutch treat” dinner at 5 p.m., then, gather at TBI, 2478 Street Road, at 6:30 p.m., for the outdoor Hanukkah menorah lighting event, followed by hot chocolate and desserts. Magic: the Gathering: Comic Archive, 319 W. Main St. in Lansdale, hosts this event at 2 p.m. This classic family-friendly card game enhances strategic thinking and skills while teaching good sportsmanship. Admission is free. Code Club: The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St. in Bristol, is hosting Code Club, a STEM educational series for children in grades 2 through 8. The club will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. weekly. Students in grades 2-4 will meet on Mondays, and grades 5-8 will meet on Tuesdays. Using Prenda software, children will learn how to code in Blocky, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and Python and to build websites, video games, apps and more. Registration is required. Participants are invited to bring their own laptop or Chromebook to each session. A limited number of library Chromebooks will be available to use. New Year’s Eve Throwback Dance Party: Ghost Light Inn, a New Hope-based boutique hotel at 50 S.
