Bucks County Community College, whose Bucks Live! cultural events series brings live entertainment to Newtown, proudly presents Jump City for the Holidays on Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
The 20-piece Jump City Jazz Orchestra, including two dynamic guest vocalists, presents yuletide stories and holiday swing in a musical event to please all ages.
For example, have you ever wondered what happened to all the gifts on the 13th day of Christmas? How to respond to a little girl’s question about whether Santa is real? How the Native Americans of the Great Lakes prepare for winter? Why nobody cares if Rudolph is so sad and lonely?
If you have, then you’re in luck as the Jump City Jazz Orchestra will make your wildest holiday musical and literary dreams come true. If you haven’t, join anyway. It might be cold outside, but warm your toes by tapping along to a fun, swinging program of holiday-themed big-band music and seasonal readings from the greatest writers in literature.
Prior to the concert, free hot cocoa and cookies will be available in the lobby for all guests.
The concert takes place in the newly renovated Kevin and Sima Zlock Performing Arts Center, located inside the Gateway Center building on campus at 275 Swamp Road, Newtown. Parking is free. The theater is equipped with audio-loop technology for the hearing impaired.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children and free for Bucks County Community College students with current ID. In addition, a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $25, including a pre-concert reception beginning at 6 p.m. with light hors d’oeuvres and two glasses of wine or beer.
