Bucks County Community College is launching the fall series of Bucks Live! events with the Joscho Stephan Trio on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Stephan’s roots lie in gypsy swing music, the style pioneered in the 1930s by the legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. He’ll be joined on stage by bassist Dylan Taylor, a mainstay of the Greater Philadelphia jazz scene, and local jazz guitarist Barry Wahrhaftig, the founder of the Hot Club of Philadelphia.
The concert takes place in the newly-renovated Kevin and Sima Zlock Performing Arts Center, located inside the Gateway Center building on the campus at 275 Swamp Road, Newtown. Parking is free. The theater is equipped with audio-loop technology for the hearing impaired.
Tickets are $15 general admission, and free for Bucks County Community College students with current ID. In addition, a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $25, which includes a pre-concert reception. Beginning at 6 p.m., the VIP reception includes light hors d’oeuvres, and two glasses of wine or beer. VIP ticket holders must be age 21 or older.
Tickets can be purchased at bucks.edu/tickets or at the door. For group sales, call 215-968-8469. To learn more about concerts, movies, lectures, poetry readings, plays and other events, visit bucks.edu/live or call 215-968-8087.
