The Bucks County Orchid Society holds monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month (not July and August) at Churchville Nature Center, 501 Churchville Lane, Churchville. Most meetings have an orchid display table, as well as speakers presenting information about orchid types and their growth habits. Meetings are open to the public and begin at 7:30 p.m.
The society is also holding its annual orchid auction on Thursday, Oct. 17 at Churchville Nature Center. Preview is at 6:30 p.m., with the auction beginning at 7 p.m. Payments can be made by cash or personal check. Approximately 100 plants (many in bloom) and orchid supplies will be up for bid. This is a great opportunity to get quality plants at great prices, with the added benefit of helpful hints on orchid culture available from experienced members. Free one-year membership to non-members with purchase of an orchid. Look for a growing list of auction plants beginning Oct. 5.
