Lenape Valley Foundation to host suicide prevention conference

This event is set for Oct. 7

Lenape Valley Foundation, which operates The Lodge Crisis Residential Center in Bristol, will host a suicide prevention conference on Monday, Oct. 7. Least Restrictive Levels of Care for Suicide Prevention will be held in the Life Sciences Building Auditorium at Delaware Valley University, 700 E. Butler Ave., Doylestown, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference is offered in partnership with Delaware Valley University.

The keynote speaker is Charles T. Browning, MD. Browning is the chief medical officer of RI International. He has devoted his career to improving the systems and care experience for mental health needs.

The day will include afternoon breakout sessions. One will feature a viewing of the film Here One Day, presented by filmmaker Kathy Leichter, an award-winning producer and director of social issue and historical documentaries. Here One Day is a feature-length documentary about mental illness and suicide in the filmmaker’s family. Leichter is currently implementing a national, multi-year media outreach campaign using the film and community dialogue to reduce stigma around mental illness and suicide, connect audiences to support, teach how mental illness and suicide impact families, and improve mental health policy.

Registration for the conference begins at 8:30 a.m., and the program runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference is open to the public, however reservations are required. Registration fee is $25 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. This program has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers for six continuing education credits.
