Trevose Horticultural Society announces next meeting

‘Kaleidoscope of Color throughout the Year’ is the topic on Sept. 17

“Kaleidoscope of Color throughout the Year” is the featured PowerPoint program at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road, Bensalem.

Lorraine Kiefer, of Franklinville, New Jersey, will discuss how to enjoy a year-round colorful landscape by choosing plants, shrubs and evergreens that provide a variety of textures, shapes and hues.

Kiefer is a garden writer, floral designer and professional horticulturist. She teaches many classes at her family-owned business, Triple Oaks Nursery and Herb Garden in Franklinville. Kiefer writes a weekly garden column for many local newspapers and garden journals and magazines. Founder and chairman of the South Jersey Unit of the Herb Society of America, she co-authored a book with Alison Beck – Best Garden Plants for New Jersey.

In addition to giving presentations at the Philadelphia Flower Show each year, Kiefer teaches herb, floral design and gardening naturally courses for Gloucester County College and Master Gardeners. She hosts herb luncheons and is known for her annual Lovely Lavender Day and Herb Weekend at Triple Oaks.

A community volunteer, Kiefer takes every opportunity to be involved in helping others to garden naturally in a pot or a plot. A small selection of plants will be available for sale.
