New TV ad urges Fitzpatrick to investigate Transportation secretary

Restore Public Trust, a group whose advisory board consists of veteran Democratic and liberal staffers and strategists, recently ran a TV ad urging Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick to investigate Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.

The group suggests Chao has helped steer transportation projects to Kentucky to help her husband, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“As revelations that Secretary Chao misdirected taxpayer dollars to benefit her husband’s political career are exposed, Rep. Fitzpatrick has failed to hold Secretary Chao accountable,” said Lizzy Price, director of Restore Public Trust. “Rep. Fitzpatrick is a member of the House Transportation Committee and has clear oversight responsibility of how transportation dollars are spent. Even more importantly, Rep. Fitzpatrick has a vested interest in the transportation projects in his own district, while the state of Kentucky is getting special treatment from Secretary Chao.

“Secretary Chao isn’t draining the swamp – she’s making it deeper – and it’s time for Fitzpatrick to act. It is up to our elected representatives to hold our government officials to the highest standards of integrity and expel those who fail to represent the public interest. Secretary Chao has used her taxpayer-funded position to advance her husband’s career. It’s time that Congressman Fitzpatrick take a hard line against political corruption and investigate the allegations against Secretary Chao.”

The narrator in the 30-second ad says of Chao, “Brian Fitzpatrick failed to stop her. Congressman Fitzpatrick, investigate Chao now.” ••
