The fourth annual Warrington Cares Sprint Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8, beginning at 7 a.m. This event begins and ends at the Mary Barness Tennis and Swim Club, located on 2501 Freedoms Way, Warrington. The race consists of a 300-yard swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 5K run through the streets of Warrington.
The event is a major fundraiser for Warrington Cares, raising more than $45,000 in the past three years. Funds raised go primarily toward scholarships for high school graduates of the township, and donations to area nonprofit organizations and families in need.
“Our Triathlon is an exciting event that brings participants back year after year. They really love the course,” said Barry Luber, Warrington Township manager and president of Warrington Cares. “Whether you are an athlete or like to watch from the sidelines, we invite you to come out on Sept. 8 to be a part of this event.”
The Sprint Triathlon is a good race for people starting out as tri-athletes and those who are training for major triathlons. Timekeeping will be done by DQ Events.
Businesses who would like to sponsor the event should contact Andy Oles, director of parks and recreation, at [email protected].
Costs are $85 for the Triathlon, $80 for the Duathlon, $80 for the Aquavelo and $115 for the Triathlon Relay. Visit runsignup.com/Race/PA/Warrington/WarringtonSprintTriathlonDuathlon for more information. Visit warringtoncares.org for more on the organization.
