Two candidates have joined Pennsbury school board member Debbie Wachspress in the Democratic primary in the 1st Congressional District.
Those candidates are Bucks County Prothonotary Judi Reiss and Ivyland Councilwoman Christina Finello.
Reiss, born and raised in Atlanta, previously worked in marketing and education. She lost a son, Joshua, when terrorists crashed a plane into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Before being elected prothonotary, she served on the Lower Makefield Board of Supervisors.
Finello grew up in Warminster and graduated from Archbishop Wood High School and the University of Pennsylvania. She received a joint law degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Villanova Law and Drexel University. She is married with two daughters. She works as deputy director of the Bucks County Department of Housing and Human Services. She vows to fight to lower the cost of insurance and prescription drugs, decrease the burden of student debt and provide retirement security for seniors.
Andy Meehan, president of an investment advisory firm, is challenging Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick in the primary.
The district consists of all of Bucks County and a portion of Montgomery County. ••
