“Entering Horticulture in a Flower Show” is the featured program at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road, Bensalem.
Lee Gittens, of Newtown, will demonstrate the importance of adhering to the National Garden Club, Inc. standard flower show schedule and provide easy and practical tips on how to repot, groom, transport and enter show-quality plants and cut specimens.
An entrant of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Philadelphia Flower Show, Gittens’ program will include her personal experiences as a successful blue ribbon competitor in horticulture classes.
An accredited Flower Show Judge, Gittens is treasurer of the Countryside Gardeners. She is past protocol chair of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania and past director of the GCFP, District XI. For more than 35 years, Gittens has maintained a three-acre landscaping canvas on her home site in Newtown.
