Churchville Nature Center, 501 Churchville Lane, seeks volunteers to help in its butterfly house as docents, and to help with garden maintenance and the care of butterflies and caterpillars.
Docents are individuals who lead tours and answer questions during hours of operation. They provide care for the live insects and assist with gardening. While education or prior experience with butterflies is encouraged, a passion for butterfly conservation is all you need to get started. CNC provides training to lead tours and work with all stages of the butterfly life cycle.
To keep the butterfly house operating, CNC needs volunteers to focus on the garden maintenance, watering and caring for the butterflies and caterpillars. This is an important role and one that allows those who do not want to teach to still participate in the butterfly house.
CNC also seeks volunteers for its grounds crew. These individuals will work on trail maintenance, fence repairs, building benches, fixing pumps in the gardens and general property upkeep. Experience working with your hands and using power tools is helpful but not required.
