At the public meeting held on June 20, the Pennsbury board of school directors approved an arrangement with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit to provide an interim director of special education for Pennsbury.
Kelly Lambert will serve in this temporary capacity through Nov. 30 at a per diem rate of $725/day as the search continues to replace Sherri Morett, who recently resigned from Pennsbury to take a similar position in another district.
Lambert, currently an active educational consultant, will be returning to Pennsbury, where she last served as a special education supervisor from 2007-2011. In the years since then, Lambert served as the assistant director of special education for the Abington School District (2014-2018) and as a program director in the Special Education Department of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (2011-2014).
Previously, Lambert was a special education instructor and lead teacher for the Bucks County Technical High School (1988-2007) and a special education instructor at Queen of the Universe Day Center (1984-1988).
As director of special education, Lambert will report to Pennsbury superintendent Dr. William Gretzula.
She will provide supervisory oversight of all special education programs, as well as the development, implementation and administration of all aspects of the special education programs. She will also oversee psychological and behavioral services, speech and hearing support, as well as occupational and physical therapy. In addition, Lambert will be responsible for directing and overseeing the Individual Education Plan and 501 processes, and make recommendations for action to the board of school directors.
“Ms. Lambert brings a wealth of experience in special education,” said Gretzula. “Her familiarity with Pennsbury and Bucks County at large will enhance her ability to quickly acclimate to the role and provide outstanding leadership. We all look forward to welcoming Kelly and working together in support of our students with special needs.”
Lambert earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Bloomsburg University and holds a bachelor of science degree in special education and elementary education from Gwynedd Mercy University. She is also a certified supervisor of special education.
