Pennsbury names new director of technology for school district

Brad McCormick was appointed by the board of school directors on June 20

The Pennsbury board of school directors appointed Brad McCormick to serve as the new director of technology for Pennsbury during the school board meeting held on June 20. McCormick will replace outgoing director Kevin Dorsey.

McCormick has served as the supervisor of education technology for Pennsbury since November 2016. In that capacity, he researched and evaluated major Technology Department purchases, collaborated with colleagues to confirm timely completion of state data reporting, worked with district coordinators to evaluate curriculum materials, and developed district-wide educational technology goals, among other responsibilities.

He has also been instrumental in supporting staff and student teaching and learning throughout the implementation of the districtwide 1:1 Chromebook initiative.

Prior to that position, McCormick served as a teacher of social studies at Charles Boehm Middle School from 2012-2016. He was also a full-time substitute teacher of science and social studies from 2009-2011.

As the director of technology, McCormick will report to superintendent Dr. William Gretzula.

The director of technology is responsible for the leadership, planning, coordination, communication, evaluation and monitoring of the district’s technology programs, including the student information and business function systems; Pennsylvania assessments, reporting and compliance systems, including PIMS, PVAAS, Compass, Cognos and TIMS; network supervision and management; technical support for end users; training program development and implementation; instructional delivery systems; hardware and software acquisitions, training and maintenance; instructional and management technology planning; budget preparation, management and control; and supervision of IT department staff.

“It has been wonderful to watch Brad’s talents as an educator support our district-wide educational transformation,” said Gretzula. “Now Brad has the opportunity to use his leadership skills to maintain and enhance the momentum of technology offerings throughout all levels of the organization. He has the full support of those who have had the pleasure of collaborating with him.”

McCormick holds a master’s degree in education from Cabrini College and a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. He also earned a PreK-12 certificate in administration, among other certifications in a variety of content areas. He is also a Level 2 Google Certified Educator.
