Artists of Bristol Art Show – Opening Reception takes place Sunday, June 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. Meet the artists and view their beautiful artwork, which is available for sale. This event is free to attend. For information on submitting artwork, contact the Artists of Bristol at aobweb@comcast.net or visit ArtistsOfBristol.com.

Intro to Kayaking takes place Saturday, June 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. This two-hour class, led by kayaking instructor Melanie Pawlowski, introduces participants to the parts of a kayak, how to hold and move a kayak paddle, how to enter and exit a kayak, ways to keep their balance while kayaking, and how to get around on the water in a kayak. The class takes place on the waters of Silver Lake. Class size is limited. Pre-registration/payment is required (at least two days prior to the program) in order to participate. Register by phone, online or in-person at the Visitors’ Building. Cost is $30 per person, or $25 per person for Friends of Silver Lake members.

Full Moon Kayaking Excursion takes place Saturday, June 15 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This event is for those who have kayaked at least once before. The excursion will start at the edge of Silver Lake and continue up into Magnolia Lake, where participants will dock on the island. Here, they’ll enjoy a campfire and roasted marshmallows. The moonlight will guide the way back. Space is very limited. Must be at least 18 to participate. Registration/payment is required (at least two days prior to the program) in order to participate. Register by phone, online or in-person at the Visitors’ Building. Cost is $35 per person, or $30 per person for Friends of Silver Lake members.

Summer Solstice – Firefly Night Hike Campfire takes place Friday, June 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. End the longest day of the year with a summer solstice celebration. Welcome summer by finding fireflies along the trails, followed by a campfire at the Earthship. Cost is $10 per person, or $8 per person for Friends of Silver Lake members.

Summer Solstice Celebration Concert by Chris Westfall takes place Saturday, June 22 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Westfall is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter. The concert will be held inside the Visitors’ Building. Arrive early to enjoy a walk on the trails. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person in advance (by 5 p.m. on June 21) or $15 at the door. Ticket prices apply to all ages. No refunds/exchanges. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center. Tickets are available by phone, online and at the Visitors’ Building.

Summer Nature Camp 2019 takes place June 24-Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Before and after care available. Cost is $200 per week. Registration is available for one week or all nine. Children receive personal attention with an average staff-to-camper ratio of 1:5. While the focus is on nature, SLNC also offers art, cooking, engineering, poetry and sports. New this year, Teen Camp is available for ages 13-17. For more information, contact camp director Kassandra Archer at kaarcher@buckscounty.org or 267-880-5024.

Shelter Building takes place Saturday, June 29 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Lost in the woods? Need shelter for the night? What can you do? This program will teach participants how to construct a shelter out of natural materials. Each will help construct a real debris hut deep in the forest of SLNC. Families and individuals are welcome. Cost is $3 per person, or $2 for Friends of Silver Lake members.
