Davis congratulates Bristol Township School District on receiving second school safety grant in weeks

$24,788 has been awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the purchase of security technology, training and more

State Rep. Tina Davis (D-Bucks) congratulated Bristol Township School District for earning a $24,788 school safety equipment grant funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office for Safe Schools’ Targeted Grant.

This grant comes weeks after the school district received a $144,000 school safety grant from the School Safety and Security Committee of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

“Schools are supposed to be a safe haven for learning, but in light of recent national events in which schools have been targeted, the reality is that school safety, particularly the safety of students, has been compromised,” Davis said. “The Bristol Township School District worked diligently to secure this grant, and the previous one, in an effort to ensure that all students feel physically and emotionally safe in their classrooms.”

The Safe Schools Targeted Grant for Equipment program assists schools by providing security planning, purchasing of security-related technology which may include metal detectors, protective lighting, surveillance equipment, special emergency communications equipment, electronic locksets, deadbolts, and theft control devices, as well as training in the use of security-related technology.
