Become immersed in nature this month
The Times
Interested in learning more about nature, getting immersed in it, and discovering the various local flora and fauna? Join Bucks Audubon for its first “BioBlitz” on May 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its center, 2877 Creamery Road, New Hope. During this free event, participants will use iNaturalist and be broken up into groups that include families, nature-lovers, naturalists and experts. Each shift (morning and afternoon) will start with basic bioblitz training and a group assignment. Snacks, refreshments and a T-shirt will be provided for all. Registration is required so BCAS can make well-rounded groups.
Join Bucks Audubon on a “Forest Bathing” guided walk on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. with Sharon Lohse, RN, a forest guide trained at the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs. Just in time for Mother’s Day, participants can relax and rejuvenate as they walk through the grounds of BCAS and learn the art of Forest Therapy — a gentle practice that involves moving slowly and mindfully through nature, soaking it in with all senses. It is not hiking, but rather a relaxing experience that connects people to natural environments through sensory-based invitations. The entire walk is 2 to 2.5 hours and covers no more than a quarter mile distance. The group will do a series of activities to engage their senses, deepen connections with nature and hone intuition. Admission is $30 per person.
