The Bucks County branch of the NAACP is presenting “Smooth Jazz in the Afternoon” featuring award-winning, international artist Sherry Winston, on May 19. Winston will perform at the Zlock Performing Arts Center at Bucks County Community College, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, at 4 p.m. All guests are VIPs and are invited to enjoy an intimate, private reception from 3 to 4 p.m.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to benefit deserving Bucks County high school seniors who plan to further their education at the next level.

“This event promises a great afternoon of entertainment, while at the same time, assisting recipients to become future leaders of America,” said Karen Downer, president of the Bucks County branch.

Winston, a graduate of Howard University, welcomes the opportunity to support the NAACP’s scholarship initiative. She has performed in many of the major concert halls throughout the U.S. including Carnegie Hall, Constitution Hall, the Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center. Highlights of her career include a performance with Stevie Wonder in New York City to honor the legendary Hal Jackson on his 97th birthday, and a performance for former President Bill Clinton during his last holiday party at the White House.

Cost is $60 per person. Reserve seats at eventbrite.com/e/smooth-jazz-in-the-afternoon-tickets- 59090963663. For more information, email Leonore Hope at hopeleonore@icloud.com or call 267–228–2100.
