Thomas to host meeting to identify and prevent child abuse

Stewards of Children training will take place April 25 in Washington Crossing

The Times

Rep. Wendi Thomas (R-Bucks) will host a special training event to help parents and all adults working with children identify and prevent child abuse.

“We are the frontline in protecting our kids from abuse,” Thomas said. “In our world of ‘see something, say something,’ we are the eyes and ears in the fight against child abuse. That’s why I am hosting a Stewards for Children training event. It will give you the tools needed to be more vigilant in recognizing the signs of child abuse.”

Stewards of Children is a prevention training that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. It is the only nationally-distributed, evidence-informed program proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and change child protective behaviors. This training uses a practical, five-step approach to prevention and response that enables adults to protect the children in their lives.

The event will be held Wednesday, April 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the visitor center at Washington Crossing Historic Park, 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing.
