The Times
The Cairn University Chorale will present its spring concert tour program at St. John’s Anglican Church, 1150 Bristol Road, Southampton, on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
The Cairn University Chorale is comprised of a unique cross-section of students, representing nearly all of the 70+ undergraduate degree programs offered. The Chorale tours and performs annually for audiences throughout the U.S. and internationally. It performs major choral works from the standard repertoire, oratorios, hymn settings, and spiritual arrangements. To learn more, visit cairn.edu/ensembles.
On Saturday, April 27, Cairn University will host its second Cairn Cares 5K: Helping Mothers Who Choose Life. Those attending may participate in the 5K run, a one-mile walk, or the virtual 5K, which can be completed anytime between Thursday, April 25 and Sunday, April 28.
All proceeds from the run will be used to support the New Horizons Scholarship Fund at Cairn University. New Horizons is an initiative to provide support to new mothers served by crisis pregnancy resource centers, who chose to give birth, even though their educational and career goals would be interrupted by unplanned pregnancy, delivery, and parenthood. The New Horizons Scholarship provides recipients with tuition aid, in addition to academic support and a nurturing Christian community as they seek to renew and/or begin their pursuit of an undergraduate degree.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. Those interested in being a title, gold, silver, or bronze sponsor may contact Tammy Butler, senior advancement officer, at tbutler@cairn.edu. For more information and to register, visit cairn.edu/cares.
This fall, Cairn invites local high school students, church leaders, and community members to enroll in “Perspectives,” a 15-week course on the current state of global missions.
Alongside Cairn students, community members can participate in the course in three ways — engaging with a limited number of key readings, performing weekly assignments to earn a certification of completion, or completing all coursework for college credit. High school students are especially encouraged to take this one-night-a-week course to get a head start on college credit as well.
Enroll by Aug. 1 and receive a $30 discount, or enroll with a family member and receive a $50 discount. Those interested in participating in this course can learn more and register at perspectives.org.
The course will be held Mondays from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. from Aug. 26-Dec. 9 at Cairn University, 200 Manor Ave., Langhorne. Cost is $295 to attend, and $600 for participants receiving college credit.
