Silver Lake Nature Center announces April events

Enjoy a Full Moon Night Hike Campfire, Family Fishing Day and more

Days-off from School Camps — Kids & Nature Days will take place Thursday, April 18 and/or Friday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each unique nature session is offered on a weekday that school is closed. 6–13 year olds are invited to join SLNC to explore the trails, play games, make crafts, visit with animals, and more. Before and after care available. Pre-registration required.

Full Moon Night Hike Campfire will take place Friday, April 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Join SLNC for a special night on the Silver Lake Trails after dark. The hike will begin at the Visitors’ Building, continue to the Earthship and finish with a campfire and marshmallows. Cost per person is $8 for Friends of Silver Lake, and $10 for non-members.

Family Fishing Day will take place Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities will include learning about fish identification, fishing equipment, and fishing techniques. This event is sponsored by the Delaware River Fishermen’s Association. This is a free event, but pre-registration is required as space is limited. Please indicate the number of adults/children you are registering.

Get to Know the Animals of SLNC will take place Saturday, April 27 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The SLNC Visitors’ Building is home to two snakes, 10 turtles, fish and crayfish. Get up close and personal with each of them. Join the SLNC animal caretaker to learn about each of the animals and how the center cares for them. Cost per person is $2 for Friends of Silver Lake, and $3 for non-members.
