The local nonprofit is calling all foodies

The public is invited to enter the delicious and intriguing world of renowned American chef, Julia Child, on Friday, May 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Morrisville United Methodist Church, 501 W. Maple Ave. Welcoming the Stranger, a local nonprofit serving immigrants through education, is hosting an exciting fundraising event.
Actress Linda Kenyon will portray this culinary expert in a one-woman show “Julia Says, ‘Bon Appetit’” by Clay Teunis. After her performance, Kenyon will be available to answer questions in her role as Child, as well as a highly-regarded professional actress. Cost is $10.
Welcoming the Stranger also announced the debut of its first cookbook, Taste the World: A Global Collection of Recipes and Remembrances Shared by the Students and Friends of Welcoming the Stranger, in conjunction with the play.
Food, as a universal experience, unites us all. This book is written in students’ own words, representing their best abilities in English and revealing their voices. This collection not only provides recipes for beloved international dishes, but the experience of connecting with diverse authors through their personal anecdotes. Tasting samples of several recipes from the book will be served as part of the evening’s refreshments. The suggested contribution for the cookbook is $20.
