Independence Blue Cross and Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic have signed a new five-year agreement, effective April 1. The agreement — which includes St. Mary Medical Center, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Mercy Philadelphia Hospital, Nazareth Hospital, and Saint Francis Healthcare in Delaware — demonstrates a continued commitment between Independence and Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic to provide members and patients with access to quality, affordable healthcare.

“We are pleased to have the new agreement in place and feel confident knowing that our members can continue to receive care from Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic and the physicians they employ,” said Richard L. Snyder, M.D., executive vice president of Facilitated Health Networks and chief medical officer at Independence. “The hospitals within Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic have a rich history of providing access to a diverse local community and are known for the strong sense of service, neighborhood sensitivity, and tradition they have established. We admire and respect that track record and look forward to continuing the strong relationship we have built with them.”

“As a result of this agreement, we are ensuring our patients throughout the region continue to have access to the physicians, hospitals and services they have come to know and trust and the quality care they have come to expect,” said James L. Woodward, president and CEO of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic. “Important relationships like this one with Independence Blue Cross enable us to fulfill our mission of being a compassionate and transformative healing presence in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.”
