Churchville Nature Center announces upcoming events

Participate in an Earth Day event and enjoy a Wildflower Sale

The Times

Churchville Nature Center is hosting its inner coastal waterway cleanup on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers will focus on the three-mile Preserve Reservoir, picking up trash and recording the types and amount of debris collected. These items will then be weighed and the information gathered will be analyzed. This information is used to educate the public, industry and government about the problems and to foster long-lasting solutions.

Debris and litter is more than an eyesore. These items are dangerous to both humans and wildlife. Scientists estimate that more than 1 million birds die each year as a result of entanglement or ingestion of litter and debris. On Earth Day this year, CNC encourages everyone to become better stewards of the Earth by becoming part of the solution to the problem of litter and debris.

For more information and to register, call Diane V. Sears at 215–357–4005, ext. 5038 or email [email protected].

Churchville Nature Center’s annual Wildflower Sale will take place April 27–28 and May 4–5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CNC will sell a variety of native perennial wildflowers selected to attract butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and other native wildlife to gardens. It will also sell annuals and herbs.

Staff and volunteers will be on hand to direct attendees to the best plants for their yards. Michael Gordon, CNC’s resident Master Gardener, will have on hand his famous peppers and tomatoes. For information, call 215–357–4005 or visit churchvillenaturecenter.org.

Churchville Nature Center is located at 501 Churchville Lane.
