ROOTS Artist Collective, a 30-year-old artist critique group, is holding its second exhibition, New Shoots, at Touchstone Gallery, 11 E. Afton Ave., Yardley, from April 13-May 5, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 13, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Ten artists will be featured: Joanne Amantea, Gilda Aronovic, Joy Barth, Joanne Donnelly, Deborah Eater, Joy Kreves, Dorine Lerner, Florence Moonan, Victoria Moy and Alice Sims-Gunzenhauser.
Many of the works are personally-inspired pieces that explore unconventional painting techniques such as white-on-white and multi-patterned paintings. Shape and line are driving forces. For many of the ROOTS artists, the use of color is important and often explosive. For this show, color has been stripped away, leaving versatility, skill, and overall interesting work.
Gallery hours for New Shoots are Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.; and by appointment. For more information, contact Nancy Allen at inquiries@touchstoneartgallery.com or 215–595–2044.
