The Bensalem Democratic Organization has announced its endorsed candidates for school board. Jamie Devery, Scott Endicter, Royce McKelvey, Rebecca Mirra, and Heather Ody-Snyder will be running for the five open seats on the Bensalem Township board of school directors.
“I taught our kids for 18 years, and then became a school administrator for almost 20 years. I served our community at Armstrong, Snyder, Shafer, Rush and Struble,” said Ody-Snyder. “I continue to work part-time as a consultant for Technical High Schools across the Commonwealth. I guess I have failed in my effort at retirement. Bensalem public schools are such an important part of my life, and I can’t just sit back when I know there’s so much I can do.”
“The financial situation of the district is rapidly deteriorating, and a majority of the current board is acting as passive bystanders,” said Endicter. “The school board of directors needs to begin directing, and it’s clear that for that to happen we need new people and new leadership.”
“The Bensalem School District is the largest employer in the community,” said Mirra. “The financial stability of the district has a direct impact on Bensalem residents, and a lack of funding from Harrisburg has put us in an impossible financial situation. The school board has an obligation to be the voice of the constituents, employees and students. We need to take our state representative and state senator to task for abandoning our needs.”
