In April 2018, Holy Redeemer Health System opened its fourth facility in Bucks County. Located in Warminster, the two-story space was constructed on the heels of its sister buildings in Bensalem, Southampton and Feasterville, each offering an array of area-specific services.
Now, Holy Redeemer has added another player to the lineup, recently unveiling a brand new fifth location in Richboro.
The outpatient medical center, 910 Second Street Pike, offers a wide variety of services, including primary and specialty physician offices, rehabilitation services and diagnostic testing. Patients can also receive obstetrical and gynecological care, orthopedic care, professional counseling, physical therapy, X-ray and ultrasound.
“We’re just a couple weeks in and it’s been great so far,” said Ryan Mee, associate vice president of ambulatory services. “We were very strategic in terms of going into that market and making sure that it made sense for being able to provide the best patient care for our community. We found that this was certainly an area where we could expand into and provide good patient care services and good convenience.”
Construction on the approximately 18,000-square-foot center commenced eight months ago in the new development at the intersection of 2nd Street Pike and Bustleton Pike. According to Marian Thallner, executive vice president, the former car dealership was fully leveled and transformed into a shopping area, which is complete with a massive Wawa.
“It’s a beautiful asset for the community and we’re happy to be a part of it,” she said. “It’s a busy, bustling corner that’s offered to the neighbors.”
In addition to its central location and ample parking, the new medical center boasts extended hours to better accommodate patients. Though it varies by practice, Mee said the majority are open most weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
“With the extended patient visitation hours, that provides a convenience factor because we understand that the old 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. scheduling isn’t convenient for everybody,” he said. “We have different needs in today’s day and age, so we offer evening hours and weekend hours for ease of access, and we also offer walk-ins.”
Staff at the Richboro location encompasses a blend of Holy Redeemer physicians who wished to bring their expertise to a new community, and new providers, including a physician and two nurse practitioners from the Newtown and Langhorne areas.
Thallner explained how not all of their services are offered at all five Holy Redeemer locations. For example, the 20,000-square-foot Bensalem location is a destination site for ambulatory and physician services. The 12,000-square-foot facility in Southampton is an outpatient women’s health center, and the 19,000-square-foot outpatient site in Feasterville is for diagnostic and physician services. Meanwhile, the 36,000-square-foot space in Warminster offers MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, diagnostic cardiology and family medicine practice.
“We wanted them to be complementary,” she said of the services. “This site is really a true medical office building. We’re able to have a full, one-stop-shop for our patients.”
But Thallner stressed that some practices can be found at any Holy Redeemer site, and encouraged new patients to give the health system, which dates to 1924, a chance.
“I guess it kind of reminds me of the old commercial for Life cereal when I was a kid — ‘Hey Mikey, try it you’ll like it!’ — and I think if people try us, they will like us. We have a differentiating focus on the patient and trying to make the experience as easy and efficient as possible,” she said. “From the minute they walk in the door, there’s someone to greet them. No one likes to feel lost or wondering where you’re going for the first time. They’ll be escorted. It’s just a gracious, hospitable environment.”
Currently, Holy Redeemer has plans to open a facility in Northeast Philadelphia by fall 2020.
