Cook the Book — a book club with taste

Local cooks of all ages, skill levels and interests are invited to the Grundy Library to share their love of cooking beginning March 9

The Times

Cook the Book is a quarterly book club for people to discuss and share their cooking adventures, and it begins next month at the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St., Bristol.

Join the group at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 when it explores international recipes. This is a great opportunity for cooks of all ages, skill levels and interests to share their love of cooking while trying new recipes from the library’s cookbook collection.

Future Saturday sessions are June 8 (Pennsylvania recipes), September 7 (Italian recipes), and November 2 (Spanish and Latin recipes). For the annual Cookie Swap on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m., participants use their own recipes.

To participate, begin by registering in-person, online at grundylibrary.org, or by calling 215–788–7891. Then visit the Grundy Library and choose a recipe from among the three cookbooks selected for the discussion. Staff will photocopy your selected recipe, giving you a copy as a participant and keeping a copy on-hand to avoid duplication. Lastly, you make one recipe and bring it to the book club meeting. While sampling and tasting the various foods, participants will discuss techniques and any substitutions used in making the recipe.

The library will provide the plates, napkins and utensils. Pre-registration is required.
