Pennsylvania State Rep. Frank Farry (center) presented a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives celebrating the 25th anniversary since the Lower Southampton Township board of supervisors purchased the bucolic, 110-acre historic Playwicki Farm, located at 2350 Bridgetown Pike.
Accepting the citation was Rose McMenamin (third from right), president of the Playwicki Farm Foundation board, and Patrice Luongo (third from left), vice president.
Also present were board members (from left) June Olson, Deborah Bachovin, Mike Lesher, Matt Gilbert, who is also the director of Lower Southampton Parks and Recreation, Don Rubin, treasurer of the foundation, and Lower Southampton supervisors Ed Shannon and Ray Weldie.
The farm’s silver anniversary will feature a yearlong celebration of community events filled with food, fun and entertainment. The Playwicki Farm Foundation was created in September 1996 as an independent, tax exempt corporation to raise money for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. The funds are used for the repair, replacement, maintenance and preservation of the Playwicki Farm and the development of educational programs.
