Enjoy a night hike, hibernation presentation and more in February

Full Moon Night Hike will take place Friday, Feb. 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Join SLNC for a special night on the Silver Lake trails after dark. The hike will begin at the Nature Center, continue down to the Earthship and finish with a campfire and marshmallows. Cost is $8 per member, $10 per non-member. It is highly recommended to register ahead of time.
Hibernation Happens will take place Saturday, Feb. 16 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The presentation begins inside the Visitors’ Building, where children will get to crawl through a tunnel into the Groundhog’s Home, where (puppet) animal friends will talk about their winter lives. There will also be a “grown-up groundhog” entrance for the adults in the group. After, participants will venture outside for a walk on the Trails to find animal homes and signs. Cost is $2 per member, $3 per non-member. Pre-registration is required, space is limited.
Kids Nature Day will take place Monday, Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each unique nature session is offered on a weekday that school is closed. 6–13 year olds are invited to join SLNC to explore the trails, play games, make crafts, visit with animals and more. Before and after care is available. Pre-registration is required. Pricing information is available online or by calling SLNC.
Maple Syrup Time will take place Saturday, Feb. 23 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Learn the basic steps of how trees are tapped for their sap so that it can be turned into delicious syrup. Help in the process of making this wonderful delight, and taste some samples too. Cost is $3 per member, $5 per non-member.
