Art exhibit ‘Narrative Expressions’ by Herbert Mandel

Narrative Expressions by Herbert Mandel is now on display in the Connie A. Eastburn Gallery at Cairn University.

Mandel (1926–2016) was once told that there is enough content in the Bible for a lifetime of artwork. He took this idea seriously and created a body of work that includes hundreds of paintings and prints. Over the course of his career, Mandel considered several art styles in which to explore and express the content as he engaged with the narrative of the Bible. This show is a retrospective in that it examines the styles Mandel explored as a tool for narrative expression.

The exhibit will be on display until Friday, May 10. The gallery is open for viewing Monday-Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If interested in a group tour, contact Matthew Stemler at [email protected].

Church Leaders Conference

On Thursday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Cairn University will host the 2019 Church Leaders Conference, a one-day, cross-denominational conference. This year’s theme is “Our Hope of Heaven,” and the keynote speaker will be Derek W. H. Thomas, a pastor, author and theologian.

Cairn’s Church Leaders Conference is for pastors and church leaders throughout the Greater Philadelphia Area.

“This conference is one of the highlights of the year for me at Cairn,” said Dr. Jonathan Master, dean of the School of Divinity. “Not only do I learn and grow by sitting under the outstanding preaching of our guests, I am also encouraged and strengthened through the warm fellowship with many pastors and friends who join us for the day.”
