KleinLife announces Lifelong Learners Series and upcoming trips for active adults

All programming is geared toward active maturing and senior adults in the area

Lifelong Learners Series

KleinLife, located at 10100 Jamison Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, recently announced that a new Lifelong Learning series for active maturing and senior adults will begin on Monday, Feb. 18. The public is invited to participate.

“We’ve put together another stimulating, informative, enriching and enjoyable series of educational opportunities that includes six new offerings,” said Linda Hershman, coordinator of KleinLife’s Lifelong Learning program, which is run in coordination with the KleinLife Adult Life Department. “The series has been meticulously designed to enliven and engage the minds, bodies and spirits of active adults. We’ve attempted to cover a broad range of subjects in trying to pique almost every area of interest.”

“We’ve also pulled together an outstanding faculty of professional educators and skilled professionals in their respective fields of endeavors,” she added. “I’m certain our participants will totally enjoy interacting with each and every one of them.”

Beginning on Monday, Feb. 18, the program will offer Painting from 9:45 a.m. to noon, Current Events from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and the Genius of Duke Ellington and Stephen Sondheim from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Tuesdays continue with Culture and the Arts from 10 to 11 a.m., Book Lovers & Tea (April 9 only) from 10 to 11:15 a.m., and Unexpected and Unusual Music from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The series continues on Wednesdays with Movie Talk & Theatre Too! from 10 to 11 a.m., and Reading Genesis as Literature from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The series rounds out on Thursdays with Science Versus Society: The Conflict from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and Mythical Opera from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The programs are being offered in two, six and eight sessions and range in price starting from $15 per person for members and $25 per person for the general public. There is also a special $150 per person package being offered for members who wish to participate in all of the programs. The program is being sponsored by Cigna-HealthSpring.

Additionally, the program will include a special cultural excursion to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia to view the works of Rina Banerjee on Tuesday, March 26. The trip will cost $50 per person for members and $55 per person for the general public.

Travel with KleinLife

Five one-day excursions to New Jersey and New York, plus a seven-day cruise to Bermuda aboard the Celebrity Summit, are upcoming for active adults in the spring and summer series of trips offered by the Travel with KleinLife program.

Both KleinLife members and the general public are invited to ride along to any or all of the fun-filled destinations. All of the excursions are escorted by KleinLife staff.

The series begins with a trip to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Wednesday, Feb. 20. In addition to $10 in slots play, the trip includes a show ticket to see entertainer Marc Antonelli and round-trip motor coach accommodations. Cost is $23 per person for members and $28 per person for the general public. Registration deadline is Feb. 1.

Then it’s off to New York City to see Fiddler on the Rood performed in Yiddish with subtitles in English and Russian on Sunday, May 5. The trip includes an orchestra seat at the Off Broadway Stage 42, as well as round-trip motor coach transportation. Lunch is on your own. Cost is $140 per person. Registration deadline is March 29.

The series returns to Broadway on Sunday, May 19 to enjoy Kiss Me Kate at Studio 54. Lunch is on your own. The trip features orchestra seats for the performance and includes round-trip motor coach accommodations. Cost is $150 per person for members and $160 per person for the general public. Registration deadline is March 29.

A return trip to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City is on the schedule for Wednesday, June 19. The trip includes $10 in slots play, a ticket to see vocalist Bryan Cheatham, and round-trip motor coach transportation. Cost is $23 per person for members and $28 per person for the general public.

The final one-day excursion returns to Broadway to see Tootsie at the Marquis Theatre on Sunday, June 23. Orchestra seating and round-trip motor coach transportation are part of the package. Lunch is on your own. Cost is $170 per person for members and $180 per person for the general public. Registration deadline is May 1.

Travel with KleinLife heads to Bermuda on a seven-day cruise aboard the Celebrity Summit, Sept. 1–8. The cruise will spend three days in Bermuda for shopping and browsing. There will also be onboard theatrical musical productions and, for those who want to stay fit, a fully-equipped gym and the Canyon Ranch Club Spa. Menus will offer a diverse selection of fine foods and spirits. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to explore the Bermuda Arts Center and Craft Market and many museums and shops of the Royal Naval Dockyard. A highlight of the trip will be the Dolphin Quest, where cruisers can swim and dance with dolphins.

The cruise is being offered for $1159 per person (inside cabin), $1534 per person (outside cabin), and $1844 per person (balcony cabin). Rates are per person double occupancy and include round-trip motor coach transport from the cruise pier in Cape Liberty, New Jersey, port charges and government fees. An initial deposit of $350 per person double occupancy or $700 per person for single occupancy is required. The final balance is due by May 3.
