The Times

Vocal music teacher and high school musical director, Matt South, invites the Pennsbury community to “cut loose” at Pennsbury High School as the students of PHS present the musical Footloose for three performances early next month.

The lively show will be presented in the Pennsbury High School East Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8–9 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the PHS East Auditorium Lobby. All tickets are assigned seating with prices ranging from $20 for orchestra level, $15 for lower balcony, and $10 for upper balcony. Discounts are available for military personnel and Pennsbury Gold Card holders.

This production of Footloose features Nic Fallacaro as Ren McCormack, a city boy who comes to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned; Zoe Necowitz as the Reverend’s daughter, Ariel Moore; and Daniel DJ Tomalin as the Reverend Shaw Moore.

Other cast members include Alain Brutus as Willard Hewitt, Nicholas Carty as Chuck Cranston, Gabrielle Goldman as Rusty, Kathryn Gilbride as Vi Moore, Sydney Sobkowiak as Wendy Jo, and Olivia Schanbacher as Urleen.

The production is choreographed by Trina Shumsonk, with musical direction by vocal music teacher, Lyndsey Strauss. Rounding out the music team are PHS vocal music teachers David Reimschussel and Arlo Ehly. Costume design is by Robin Stelly, and technical direction is by Terry Poulton. The show is produced by PHS director of choral activities and vocal music curriculum coordinator, James Moyer.

Footloose is a high-energy, enthusiastic show full of dancing and the best of 80s anthem rock. With a powerhouse score and a relatable book, Footloose is a classic story of overcoming grief and experiencing growth and emotional healing, symbolically represented by dancing, as well as persevering with determination to fight for the things you love most.

To the rocking rhythm of its Oscar- and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached №1 on the Billboard charts and has sold more than 15 million copies) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

Pennsbury High School East Auditorium is located at 705 Hood Boulevard in Fairless Hills.
