Music and Motion with David from Two of a Kind will take place Feb. 4 and 25 at 10:30 a.m. Join David from Two of a Kind for stories, rhythm, dancing and music. This program is walk-in until space is filled. It is for ages birth and up.
Mindfulness will take place Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m. Mindfulness is the practice of moment-to-moment awareness. It can help those cope with daily stressors and pressures of fast-paced, busy lives. Find out how mindfulness can benefit your life. This event is for ages 16 and up, and is presented by two graduates of Jefferson University’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program. What’s Cooking at the Library: Souper Bowl will take place Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. Taste different soups made by staff and vote for your favorite at the inaugural event. There will be recipes for each soup available. Register online.
ABC Story Hour will take place Tuesdays through Feb. 12 and Fridays through Feb. 15 at 10:30 a.m. Children learn a new letter each week. Listen to stories, create crafts, sing songs, and play with educational toys. This program is for ages birth and up and walk-in.
Prenda Coding Club will take place Tuesdays Feb. 5, 12 and 26 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Learn how to code websites, apps, games and more through self-paced, fun projects. Recommended for fourth grade and up. Participants must be able to work without adult assistance on projects. Those who wish to work independently are invited to bring their own laptops. The library will provide laptops for shared use. This is a walk-in program. The library will host a showcase in the spring where participants can show family and friends what they created.
Teen Board Game Club will meet Tuesdays Feb. 5, 12 and 26 from 5 to 6 p.m. Socialize and play fun, challenging board games with friends. Walk-ins welcome.
Genealogy Workshop will take place Feb. 6 at 10:30 a.m. Susan Koelble, a professional genealogist, will lead a workshop on genealogical research and assist attendees with their own research. A workshop is held every first Wednesday of the month. Register online or by phone.
Coloring with Watercolors will take place Feb. 7 and 21 at 1 p.m. Color your way to serenity at the Adult Coloring program on the first and third Thursday of February. Meet your new best friend while enjoying tea and treats.
AIM: Crafting Corner will take place Feb. 9 at 10:30 a.m. Eric Schaefer returns to show participants how to make winterscapes and Valentine’s Day crafts out of recycled materials. Register online.
Sensory Story Time will take place Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. A special story time ideal for children who are differently abled. Whether your child is on the autism spectrum, has sensory processing issues, or feels overwhelmed with loud noises or crowds, this inclusive program may be what you’re looking for. Story times consist of 30 minutes of preschool-level books, songs and rhymes followed by monitored social play. This program will take place two times a month on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The second Monday will be at Southampton and the fourth Monday will be at Warminster. Register online.
Read to Olivia will take place Feb. 12 from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Bring your favorite book or borrow one from the library and read to a new four-legged friend. These programs are all ages and walk-in.
Evening Book Club will take place Feb. 12 at 6:45 p.m. This month’s selection is Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld.
Tea with the BBC will take place Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. Watch episodes of Poldark while enjoying tea and scones. Join the library every second Wednesday of the month for a BBC television mystery. Register online.
Beer & Board Games at Moss Mill Brewing Co., 109 Pike Circle, Unit D, Huntingdon Valley, will take place Feb. 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. Play board games with family and friends and enjoy craft beer. The library will bring board games, but attendees are welcome to bring their own to share. There will be a Go Nuts for Donuts Tournament with prizes from the library and brewery. All ages welcome.
Portuguese Story Hour/Ciranda da Leitura em Southampton will take place Feb. 16 at 10:30 a.m. Children and caregivers are invited to enjoy stories read in Portuguese. This is a walk-in program.
Lunch ‘n Learn: Celebrating Unknown American History will take place Feb. 20 at noon. Attend a lunch and discussion of some well-known and unknown Americans and their roles in establishing what it means to be American. Register online or by phone. Space is limited.
Trivia at the Library will take place Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. The popular trivia game is back for a new year. Try your luck and match wits with friends and neighbors. Register online.
Block Party will take place Feb. 21 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. All ages are invited to play with blocks and toys at this walk-in program.
Story Trails Reading Program with the Women’s Animal Center will take place Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. Help socialize a friendly, adoptable shelter animal by reading to them. While waiting for your turn to read, explore the library and make treats for the shelter animals. This is a walk-in program.
Backyard Wilderness Movie Screening will take place Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. Enjoy an exclusive screening of the award-winning documentary Backyard Wilderness. Spanning a seasonal year around a suburban home, the film displays a stunning array of unique wildlife images and behavior — all captured by cameras mounted inside dens and nests, and moving along the forest floor and pond bottom. The film reminds us that WiFi is not the only connection that matters, and that sometimes in ordinary places, you can uncover extraordinary things that can transform you forever.
