The Newtown Discovery Preschool, a private preschool powered by the Newtown Athletic Club, announced its planned opening in September 2019. The new preschool will deliver a collaborative approach to learning through play to students 2.5–5 years old.
“Our mission at Newtown Discovery Preschool is to nurture a curiosity-driven environment through emergent learning where children can develop a love for exploration, wellness and relationship building,” said Amanda Brown, founder of the preschool who has more than 11 years experience in childcare and education.
Curriculum for the preschool utilizes the popular STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) learning philosophy with an added focus on physical development, health and wellness, and literacy. The brand-new facility will also feature a nature-inspired community that will allow students to learn through exploration, socialization and play.
In addition to the core curriculum, Newtown Discovery Preschool offers an additional enrichment program included for all students with enrollment. Students will participate in structured, hands-on activities including swim lessons, gymnastics, dance and fitness classes to encourage development through art, imagination and movement.
