Parx Casino, located at 2999 Street Road in Bensalem, officially launched sports betting on Thursday, Jan. 10 beginning at 1 p.m. after PGCB testing and approval.
The Parx Casino sportsbook is open for business in a temporary venue, the former 360 bar and lounge, as well as on kiosks throughout the casino floor. With the launch of sports betting, Parx will be a game day destination for NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, college sports, soccer, MMA, golf and tennis.
The temporary sportsbook is open seven days a week from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Monday, 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9 to 1 a.m. on Saturday, and 9 to 12 a.m. on Sunday.
The space features 20 HD television screens of various sizes, and two 16-by-9-foot screens that can be split into four. In total, the temporary sportsbook can broadcast up to 28 games at the same time. The space also features seven live teller windows, a full-service bar, and comfortable seating to watch the games. 45 self — service sports betting kiosks are available in the temporary sportsbook, as well as throughout the casino floor and the Parx Poker Room.
Coming soon, pending PGCB approval, is a brand new sports betting app called Betslip Builder. The online app can be utilized by retail players to fill out a bet slip before walking up to a kiosk or cashier to place their bets. It will help reduce the wait time at a kiosk or cashier because players will need to simply scan the QR code and fund the bet, rather than having to pick their bets with a cashier/kiosk. This will improve and streamline the process during fast moving games.
Look for updates about sports betting coming to the South Philadelphia Turf Club and the Valley Forge Turf Club. Renovations are currently underway in South Philadelphia at 700 Packer Avenue and will soon commence at Valley Forge, 600 Cresson Avenue in Oaks. Launch dates will be available in the coming weeks.
The temporary sportsbook is only a small preview of what is to come for the future of sports betting at Parx Casino. The casino’s long-term plans for legalized sports betting include the construction of the Parx Sportsbook, a permanent $10M expansion project. When fully launched, guests will be able to place their sports bets at the brand new, state-of-the-art Parx Sportsbook slated to open in summer 2019.
